Pearl River, NY – Kevin Murphy and Margaret Dowling-Murphy are excited to showcase their individual and collaborative work in a new exhibit at Nyack Library in Nyack, NY from July through August. Their exhibit, "Synchronicity," features their unique creations that blend structured forms with organic, free-flowing elements. These pieces are inspired by nature and intuition. They will be hosting an on-site reception on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 6-7:30.
The couple celebrated their 5th year in business in March and their 20th wedding anniversary this July. Kevin reflects, "We have been fortunate enough to foster each other's creativity while also building a family and life together. It's not always easy, but it's never dull."
An Artistic Journey
Margaret expressed her gratitude, saying, "We are so honored to share our work in such a vibrant, artistic community like Nyack. This exhibit reflects the evolution of our work as we ventured into new mediums and fused our styles. It parallels the synchronicity we have felt in our own lives—those meaningful coincidences and sense of interconnectedness reassure us that we're exactly where we’re meant to be."

Kevin added, "As we have become more attuned to the synchronicity in our lives, we have tried to let go of control and embrace intuition, both personally and creatively."
Their work showcases a captivating blend of structured forms with breezy, organic elements. While some artworks may seem unrelated at first, a deeper connection runs through them—a shared energy and purpose unite their creations. Nature is a significant influence throughout their work. Elements like earth, fire, water, and air frequently appear, each symbolizing a part of life’s intricate balance.

Art with Meaning
"Much like the phenomena of synchronicity itself, our work invites you to connect in ways that go beyond the visual. We hope that, in these pieces, you will find personal meaning, a spark of recognition, or even a sense of guidance, just as we have while creating them," said Margaret.
The Murphys, founding owners of Murphy Wood Art, started collaborating in 2020 as the pandemic unfolded. They merged Kevin’s woodworking skills with Margaret’s artistic background, combining their unique styles to create a diverse body of work.
As their portfolio expanded, Margaret launched her canvas art line in April of this year, which can be found at (DowlingMurphy.Art).

Artistic Inspiration
Margaret, a lifelong art enthusiast and former teacher, creates artwork using various styles and mediums. These include oil, acrylic, woodburning, resin, and mixed media. Often inspired by nature and her travels, she enjoys combining elements of realism and abstraction. As a member of the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR), Margaret’s artwork has been part of their Hidden Treasure Galleries, and she has showcased her work in solo exhibits throughout Rockland County, NY.
Kevin's journey in woodworking began nearly 20 years ago. After a brief hiatus, he rediscovered his passion by turning salvaged wood from local sources into rustic mountainscapes, custom pieces, and flags. Revitalizing old wood while respecting its history has been central to his creative process.

Media Recognition
Their inspiring work and story have received attention from various media outlets. News12’s Katerina Belales featured them in her series, “Made in the Hudson Valley." Furthermore, Margaret has written an article about their business in The Irish Echo. Their story has also been highlighted in News12 Hudson Valley, Rockland County Times, Hudson Valley Magazine, Canvas Rebel Magazine, Bold Journey, Irish Star, and Redfin.
Currently, they reside in Pearl River, NY, where they raise their three children.
