Barrel Sunset
Because not all sunsets need to be framed….
This original wood mountainscape is made from a combination of oak boards and reclaimed barrel staves, ripped down to width and thickness, and then assembled on a plywood backer board. The overall result is a sunset landscape mixing curves, angles and colors.
The curved barrel staves are hand cut and sanded to fit between the tall snow capped peaks. The mixture of sharp angles in the mountains and the gentle arches of the barrel staves creates a unique and dynamic landscape.
The sunset effect is created by layering shades of paint in an overlapping pattern to create a color gradient. The overall effect is sun fading out at the end of the day as nightfall sets in.
To enhance the natural look of the piece, the edges are back beveled using a sander and grinder for a frameless finish. Hanging wire included on back for easy mounting, or suitable for shelf display. (Approx 18”x11”)
